Chicks Abundant

Bird chicks are abundant now! Look for movements in the bushes and for adult birds carrying bugs, because those are signs you have a baby bird on your hands! I found the robin chicks (that I mentioned in an earlier post) when I saw the mother robin carrying a worm and trying to get near me. I stood back, and a foot from where I was, I saw a baby robin emerge from the grass. I have seen House Finch chicks, Blue Jay chicks, White-breasted Nuthatch chicks, House Wren chicks, Robin chicks, and Cardinal chicks too. A Cardinal that I fed for years (I call her Crestie), mated with a bright red male and had a daughter! Both parents fed the chick and now she has reached young adulthood.

Spotting a chick is very rewarding! Good luck!
