Mergansers and more: a trip with my bird club
On Feb. 6, I went on another trip with my bird club. This was a waterfowl survey, and we saw a lot of cool ducks. We birded at ponds around the Oakton area of Virginia, and here is what we saw:
Blurry Common Merganser picture. They were too far away to take good pictures.
Then we saw a Bald Eagle fly over! We also saw his nest.
Bufflehead
The next thing we saw was a Mute Swan. He came two feet away from us!
Then we saw some male Hooded Mergansers.
Hooded Merganser Males Displaying - this was so cool! They jerked their heads back and lept up!
Female Hooded Merganser Calling
Ring-necked Duck
Northern Cardinal
Red-shouldered Hawk
Turkey tail Mushroom - I spotted this, it's very pretty!
