Bobolinks! A trip to the Shenandoah Mountains with my bird club
On the 18th, I went to the Shenandoah Mountains in Virginia and West Virginia with my bird club. We saw a lot of migratory breeding birds.
The first bird we saw was an Eastern Kingbird at the location we leave to go on trips! They have a nest nearby. Proof that birds can't read: This bird was "parked" on a no parking sign!

First life bird of the day: Broad-winged hawk!
Cedar Waxwing
Blurry Blue-headed Vireo
Black-capped Chickadee - Usually I only see Carolina Chickadees.
Red Crossbill - This was the bird we were hoping for! He was pretty far away, but it was still exciting.
Three Rose-breasted Grosbeaks!
Fox Squirrel - Much bigger than Gray Squirrels.

Cliff Swallows
Chestnut-sided Warbler
Ruby-throated Hummingbird - There were many on this house with flowers and feeders!

Yay! A rare Golden-winged warbler! Unfortunatly, they are declining rapidly.

Bobolinks are so cool!
Look at the puffy yellow cap on this Bobolink!
Killdeer - My best shots of one yet.
Yellow Warbler flying - Blurry but cool.
This was a great trip!
I am planning a great birding trip for this summer. Stay tuned to find out what I see!
